Actually I spent quite a bit of time in Garden Grove, California in the early 70's. My older cousins had many of their 45's and albums.

garageband66: Thanks so much for posting this song; its been forty years since I've heard it. They were an excellent band that, if you lived on West coast, or close to Canada, you heard a lot of in the 60's.

Is Howie Vickers the one who sings Rainbow of Fire?

You may have better success finding mp3's or ordering it reconditioned on line. Good Luck!

Wow, I just discovered the song "My Love Delights Me" half an hour ago, and I thought nothing could top that song. this one comes pretty close!I just love the style of this music. it's so relaxing, and it flows nicely. I'm gonna search every record store high and low on monday for some LPs of this.

I am not surprised that The Collectors blew Jeffereson Airplane off the stage. JA was horrible live, often too stoned to perform and I am not sure they ever weren't tanked at anytime during the 60's. Grace Slick's meltdowns on stage are the stuff of legend. I still think a lot of The Collectors issues in the US was due to lack of promotion by Valiant. They also sounded a lot like The Association also on the same label.Sitting next to Neil anywhere would be enlightening I imagine.

Yeah Chilliwack certainly pushed out the Top 40 hits and Dreams Dreams Dreams remains a great, complete album...but some of The Collectors singles were so cool! The band was certainly accepted in San Fransisco where they once outplayed the local legends, Jefferson Airplane, and stole the show. Howie related sitting next to Neil Young on the plane when they toured with Buffalo Springfield. That would have been some trip.

Chilliwack's label was more focused on sales, hit records, and videos. The Collectors came along in a time where creativity was embraced. There were also more independent labels not controlled by big corporations concerned with the bottom line.

I'm told this song was inspired by the birth of my old school chum Eric. His dad is Howie Vickers, lead singer of The Collectors. As successful as Chilliwack were, they just didn't have the creative edge The Collectors did.
